Summary

Trump’s trade wars and tariffs are hitting his own voters the hardest, with retaliatory levies from China, Canada, and Europe targeting industries in Trump-supporting states.

A New York Times analysis found that nearly 8 million Americans, mostly Trump voters, work in affected sectors like farming, steel, and manufacturing.

While some remain loyal, others are voicing frustration over job losses and economic strain. States like Kentucky, Wisconsin, and Indiana are particularly vulnerable.

Cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security could further impact Trump’s base.

I have a really hard time feeling sympathy for them. Like lots of people who didn’t want this are getting hurt a lot more now, so anything that comes to them is well deserved

Food is the one the one thing I buy regularly, that I directly purchase and can know the source on. So I’m sitting here with my little local CSA farm-share all lined up, and a tiny garden set up out back. There’ll be things I’ll have to buy, but I’ll either get them at the farmer’s market, or I’ll make sure to purchase imports. I’m absolutely determined to avoid red-state produce.

We are planning for a huge downturn in July at work. I expect something between a recession and a complete shit show. Hoping for the former.

I’m so worried about the fascism that I can hardly bother to worry about the economic consequences.

Honestly I’m hoping the economic consequences are so severe that it cripples fascism. Basically if everyone’s unemployed and angry the ability to control folks becomes questionable at best.
