I started an internship as a sophomore in college with a local manufacturing corp. Did part time there while going full time for my mech.E bachelor’s.degree. I originally planned to only be there a year, but it ended up working out that I stayed all the way thru graduation doing a variety of jobs in their r&d labs as an assembly tech, CNC machinist, and also a CAD drafter. About 6mo before graduating I applied for an open product engineer position and was able to roll into working full time right after, have been there for about a year and a half ish now.

I was able to graduate with some savings and a high paying job, I basically hit the fucking jackpot.

Their achieved accuracy was +/- 1.5km and +/- 2m/s

Which is an improvement in of itself. That improves flying craft navigation to and from the moon into something significantly easier to automate and coordinate between multiple ships, more than ballistic dead reckoning.

The biggest thing they did to kill it was banner ads in the client. The second those showed up, all my friends and myself instantly jumped to the new, fledgling Discord.

Currently it is a civil failure to be in the US without papers. This makes it a criminal act to not voluntarily register on this list. If you’re fine buying slave-labor import, I found a “MECHEN M30 HiFi MP3 Player” on AliExpress for about $45 USD. Pretty good reviews all things considering. No wireless that I can tell, 256gb microSD support, headphone jack out.

These kinds of standalone “hifi” portable media players will be the only things that support memory cards and “no wireless” like you’re asking for. And even then a lot of them include Bluetooth, if not just for remote control support, as well as audio out.

The preloaded spyware OS is half baked, horribly unfinished, and also locked to the hardware. You can work around it to install your own OS but they provide zero support and explicitly say it is not supposed to be allowed by ToS while intentionally making it as hard as possible by making the BIOS inaccessible and digitally signed to their own OS. Fuck that.

The crowdfunding fundraiser (where there are zero penalties if things are shipped broken, incomplete or not at all) is super fishy and the non-discount price is astronomical. While the hardware looks nice… Hard, hard pass right now, stinks of vendor lockin and illegal data vacuuming. Do not buy.
