At least 2 popular subreddits I know of are controlled by Russian trolls spreading misinformation, I’m sure there are more. They’ve even offered to pay off subreddit owners/mods in order to get control.

If you have any issue with mods, admins are not interested. I haven’t used reddit for years due to these things. If the mods are no good for any reason, there’s no recourse.

That’s the problem when all our tech comes from China and they’re blatantly not trustworthy or even really trying to pretend they are. There’s no real option to keep buying from them, no matter the circumstances.

Europe needs to pivot to being heavily Eurocentric, protecting basic necessities, arming ourselves and moving towards supplying ourselves with everything possible. Let Ukraine into the EU and maybe have to abandon the invaded part. Trade with friendly countries, divest from trade with asshole countries and buckle up while the US/China/Russia probably attack weaker targets and make their asshole riviera.

We can’t keep relations as we have with countries which are not compatible with our Democratic values. All that’s happening is that countries with shitty ideals are using our openness and spirit of cooperation to manipulate and indoctrinate our people. That’s what’s happened in america and even if america rights itself somehow, it will go unpunished and almost unacknowledged like all the other shit.

We should set up some kinds of rules for engagement with other countries. Shitty actions, whether towards their own people or not, incur automatic trade penalties and other punishment. If these are open and standardized it can serve as a preventative. This all has to be presented publicly so low education people can understand what is going on and why. Im not advocating for censorship but there should be fact checking/ certifications that its not total shit - on EU news sources - and warnings on non-EU media etc, so people know it’s probably shit. Also we should allow reasonable Americans and others with our values to live and work in europe without all the usual BS.

I’d go to any other semi-decent country with troops before I’d let trump dictate. Norway may not want or need the minerals but they are an asset just like money, or maybe better since they’ll probably appreciate in value. This shitty behaviour from the US needs to be stopped. I wonder how difficult and time consuming it would be to extract the minerals? If they aren’t safe in Ukraine (from Putin/Trump) then taking them for safe keeping may make the invasion of Ukraine less attractive.

So who can? Trumps promises aren’t worth the toilet paper he wrote them on.

This kind of brings me back to thinking that this situation, although scary and shit, could be a great opportunity for a better world. Like, for one thing, maybe we shouldn’t be buying cheap plastic shit made with slave labour in China. We definitely shouldn’t be in a situation where we can’t exist without domestic production of necessary things.

If that’s the case then why are we still trading with China? Why isn’t tiktok banned? Russia is being openly punished and rejected but China, apparently so close with them, are not?

I understood that capitalism, despite it’s flaws is the way the world has decided to prevent wars. If countries are so intertwined financially it can’t be of benefit to either party to war. If China values our business they won’t fuck with us. If Chinese companies and parties own interests in our country they won’t destroy it or even act against us, as aside from anything else we can sanction them by taking this property without any renumeration.

I guess they’re right about that. They’re feeling tough now but I doubt the US will like to lose the perks of being our daddy. If this shit continues I’d stop sharing Intel, remove US bases from Europe, make new treaties (including nuclear) covering Europe’s allies and trading partners and give the US the freeze until a sane administration is in power and they can keep their house in order. This is actually a positive since the west has been complacent. No more involvement in shitty US conflicts has to be a bonus. You know, in Europe we haven’t been at war for almost the whole of our history like the US. We grew out of that long ago and only followed our ally the US into their asshole conflicts. They did enough good in the world that the evil was kinda balanced at least. Yeah, that’s over.

The thing is, it’s not total rubbish. The problems are real - rust belt decline, life is harder for Americans than it was in the past. America is more protected from Russian aggression than Europe. He doesn’t seem to realise or care that the reason for that is because we trusted that the US would have our back and its not like the us wasn’t getting anything in return.

It’s just that these truths are mixed in with lies - immigrants are the problem, tariffs will fix anything, that if america abandons it’s allies and its promises (over protecting Ukraine after they gave up their nukes), this will lead to a better long term outcome for America.

Trump is too dumb to understand subtlety and he’s being played by multiple bad actors, domestic and foreign.
