Writing them off as an American company is totally valid, but I’m happy to pay for a quality service because it keeps ads out and lets me vote with my money. It’s really not much to cling to psychologically, but it helps. When I and others completely degoogle our lives it moves no needles at GoogHQ, but paying subscriber metrics are a KPI discussed in every board room in the world.
It’s had that for a while now. It was the main reason I’d pipe up to recommend Kagi, but now there’s also their search anonymizer and tor endpoint.
Wow. Our DMV didn’t get us our plates for for almost 2 months, and from what I’ve heard, that’s faster than usual.

I spent half a dozen hours this weekend trying to get Proxmox running on a 2nd hand laptop, but I can’t get it to run without sounding like a jet engine. The machine did fine when I ran Mint and used it as a laptop - but even after blacklisting the dGPU and forcing all the CPU cores to powersaving, I’m still making heat like crazy.
Plan B is to put Mint back on it and install podman and see if fan noise is a problem then. But I’d rather have podman running in an unprivileged LXC.
Did both Edge users complain?
Is pinterest getting more popular or is it that people have spent the last couple years searching for “who uses pinterest” or “how to remove pinterest from search results?”
